Real Madrid striker Rodrygo Goes escaped serious injury after a dangerous tackle from Uruguay’s Nahitan Nandez during the Copa America quarter-finals, where Brazil were eliminated on penalties.

All involved in the process feared that Rodrygo could have suffered a serious ankle injury, as he left the field just a few minutes after that tackle. Rodrygo was in pain, but tests showed that he escaped serious injury.

Rodrygo, like the rest of the Brazilian national team, has had a disappointing Copa America, starting all four games for the Canarinha and not scoring or assisting any of Brazil’s goals during the tournament.

The forward will face more competition for minutes this season and could even become a reserve after Los Blancos complete the signing of Kyilian Mbappe. He is facing a very important season.
