Grandmother vows to help grandkids with $4 million lottery win

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV/Gray News) – A grandmother from North Carolina is planning to help her grandkids after winning $4 million in a new lottery game.

According to the North Carolina Lottery, Rachel Sadler won the big prize after buying a $30 Supreme 7s scratch-off ticket from the Save Mart on East Main Street in Lincolnton.

“It was my first time buying that ticket,” she said. “I guess I just liked the blue and white color … I think I’m still in a state of shock.”

When asked what she was going to do with the money, Sadler said she has “a bunch of grandkids” and wants to “make sure they have a nice future.”

She was given a choice of taking a $2.4 million lump sum, or a $200,000 annuity over 20 years. She chose the lump sum and after taxes, took home nearly $1.72 million.
